We are certainly living in challenging times and many people are searching the internet for answers or information about what they might be able to do for themselves. Perhaps you have stumbled upon this site in such a way yourself.
Unfortunately there is no magic solution to be found and the best thing is to follow the government's advice about social distancing, hand washing and staying at home etc.
But there are steps that we can take to help ourselves. Eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables (easier said than done at the moment I know!), Kefir (an eastern European yoghurt type drink sold by most supermarkets and many small local shops and an excellent probiotic) and a reduction in sugar intake are three things that will give the immune system a boost.
Exercise too is very important especially when we are being cooped up for days on end. Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) is a gentle, ancient martial art that is suitable for beginners and for practicing in a confined space as you will see from the video here.

And then, of course, there is the mind, perhaps the trickiest thing of all being the seat of anxiety and fear of things that could happen - even though they probably never will. Anxiety is a natural process in the presence of a potential threat but long term stress can affect the immune system and other systems too.
Unsurprisingly, I am not practicing at the moment but I hope soon to be posting some hypnosis sessions on my Facebook page for dealing with stress, anxiety etc. so do "stay tuned" for further developments.
In the near future I will be resuming practice by offering online sessions via Skype or Zoom and because it will be people and not just businesses that will need rebuilding these sessions will be offered on a sliding scale payment basis - if you can afford to pay all well and good, if you can afford nothing at all then that's ok too. And this will be for general practice, for anything I can help you with be it smoking, weight loss, phobias, IBS, hypertension and many more. In the meantime, remember it is ok to feel what you are feeling. Anxiety is a natural response to a perceived threat and you are not the only one feeling this way. We have, in a very short space of time, had our lives changed in a way we could never have imagined at the beginning of this year. You might even have feelings of bereavement or loss for the life you had or the one you hoped to have led this year. Whatever you are feeling, the key thing is to allow yourself to feel it. Don't think you should be pulling yourself together or somehow supressing it which only leads to problems later down the line. Acknowledge it, go through the stages and eventually adapt to the new situation and hopefully it will not be too long before we are back to normality, though hopefully stronger, kinder and just that little bit wiser.
